Dragon's Back
Hongkong
A 20-minute away ideal escape from urban noise is the Dragon’s Back - the world of forested uplands and waterfalls.
Once awarded “Best Urban Hike in Asia” by Time Magazine, Dragon’s Back is an unbelievable getaway. Most cannot believe the wonders of this trail as it filters the commotions of the city though it’s just 20 minutes away from it.
The trail is located in Shek O Country Park, and runs along the ridge between Wan Cham Shan and Shek O Peak. At certain times, you can see paragliders and model aeroplane enthusiasts here who take advantage of the thermals generated from the water below. You can also feast your eyes upon the views of South China Sea, Shek O and Stanley.
It will take you around 2 hours to complete Dragon’s Back, as it is only an easy trail.
How to get there: Take MTR to Shau Kei Wan Station and exit through A3. Ride Bus 9 bound for Shek O at the Shau Kei Wan Bus Terminus. Tell the driver you’ll get off at Cape Collinson Road. That’s the starting point of the trail. From the ending point: Take Bus 9 at Shek O Road near To Tei Wan Village back to Shau Kei Wan Bus Terminus.
